(inspiration)
One day, a hairdresser decides that he will start his own business. He buys some premises in the middle of town, installs the basins and mirrors, and hires the best hairstylists he can find.
The day of opening is approaching.
He then thinks to himself: I need some advertising.
He goes to an advertising agency with his account. They say, do you want ordinary advertising, or creative advertising? He says,oh, ordinary advertising will do. I don't need this creative stuff.
OK, says the agency, come back in three weeks. Three weeks later, the agency makes a major presentation. "And so, our proposal is that you put this sign in your window."
HAIRCUTS. $20
Is that all? says the hairdresser. Yes, says the agency. And the advertising works. Customers come in. Their hair is cut. They pay $20. Business is good. Then one day, disaster. Another hairdressing business opens up. Right across the street from the first one. That is bad enough. But they too have taken the advice of an advertising agency. Because in their window this sign appears.
HAIRCUTS. ONLY $5
What do we do, says the first hairdresser, seized with panic?
He goes back to his advertising agency and explains the situation. Help, I'm facing ruin. I need some new advertising. Do you want ordinary advertising or creative advertising, asks the agency? Maybe this time I need creative advertising. You're right there, says the agency. And shortly afterwards, this sign appears in his window.
WE FIX $5 HAIRCUTS.
Subject: Creativity Pays
A simple story that illustrates ......"creativity pays" .
They say that one day, there was a blind man sitting on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet and a sign that read: "I am blind, please help".
A creative publicist was walking by him and stopped to observe.
He only had a few coins in his hat; he dropped a few more coins into the hat and without asking for his permission took the sign, turned it around, and wrote another announcement.
He placed the sign by his feet and left.
That afternoon the creative publicist returned by the blind man and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins. The blind man recognised his footsteps and asked if it was him who had re-written his sign and he wanted to know what did he write on it?
The publicist responded: "Nothing that was not true, I just rewrote your sign differently".
He smiled and went on his way. The blind man never knew but his new sign read:
"TODAY IS SPRING AND I CANNOT SEE IT".
Change your strategy when something does not go your way and it will probably be for the best. HAVE FAITH THAT EVERY CHANGE IS BEST FOR OUR LIVES (INDEED)
