Mother

(thoughtful)

She carried you in her belly, beneath her heart you lay A part of her, for nine long months, together every step of the way Such agony she endured to bring you in to this world

You were a tiny, helpless baby, she kept you out of harms way She sacrificed her own desires to fulfil your every need Sleep she lost in comforting you, baring your wails with patience She spent her youth raising you, she made you who you are She gave you the knowledge to know right from wrong To fight your own battles, to have a mind that is strong

She looks to you now, her goal she has achieved You are now an adult, no longer in need It is time for her to take a break, to rest her tired feet It is now your turn to care for her as she begins to enter old age Your duty lay's in fulfilling her needs, to be her support and comfort Make her proud to call you her child, lift the weight from her shoulders Offer her the respect she rightly deserves, for heaven you will find beneath her feet.

"... And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.

And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small."
